Ohanaeze Ndigbo of Lagos during the week unveiled the maiden edition of its Lagos International beauty pageant.
Speaking during a press conference in Lagos to announce the pageant, the organisers said it is an international contest that would entertain contestants from all ethnic groups in the country.
“Any beautiful Nigeria girl between ages 18 to 25 is fit to partake in the contest.
“The primary aim of the pageant is to empower the girl child, giving her a leverage to succeed in her field of endeavour. The queen goes home with N1.5 million and a brand new car.
“The 1st runner up wins N1 million cash prize. Second runner up gets N700,000 while the third runner up receives N500,000,” the organisers said
The group President, Solomon Ogbonna, said he decided to give all beautiful girls to contest and not only Igbo girls.
The winner, he said, would be nurtured to know the rudiments expected of an Igbo lady and she would be an ambassador for the Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
The forms, according to the organisers, are out for participants to purchase.
