Customized fabrics were not acceptable years back in the fashion scene except, perhaps, for people who were in clubs, associations or family members.

But avant-garde Nigerian fashion designers have changed the narrative.
Today, having silk and other top-notch fabrics customized as Nigerian atire, like adire, with a designer brand names or names of loved ones is the in-thing and looks amazing and grand.

Fashion afficionados are presented with masterpieces of ready-to-wear outfits, headgear and handbags made in the same fabric.
Amina Ladidi Suleiman, a fashion designer, went further to highlight these fabrics with crystal rhinestones, beads and lace.

“At the 2m_design fashion show in Dakar, Senegal, last year, these outfits were the cynosure of all eyes, especially the customized fabric that was inscribed with ‘Omo 9ja.’

“Other African countries love Nigerian fabrics, and this is our experience in all the fashion shows we attend,” she said.
