The rector of Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management (RECTEM), Dr. Stella Mofunanya, has disclosed that the institution was recently rated as the fastest growing private polytechnic by the National Board For Technical Education (NBTE).
The rector said: “I feel highly honoured over the commendable feat RECTEM has achieved. The college’s pride of place as a centre for academic excellence and youth development in the comity of polytechnics is second to none”.
She made this assertion at the fifth matriculation of the institution on Monday, July 4, 2023, at the school’s premises, Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Her words: “At this matriculation today, the college will formally admit 326 students into various programmes approved by the National Board for Technical Education and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.
She admonished the freshmen that RECTEM was an institution where the fear of God reigned supreme and everyone was committed to high moral and academic standards, in line with the motto: “Raising Champions”.
According to Mofunanya, the institution emphasises discipline and spiritual development, “since spiritual indiscipline and emptiness lead to all sorts of deviance, lack of integrity and a destitute life.”
She, therefore, implored the students to obey the rules and regulations of the polytechnic, which have been put in place for their optimal development, adding that the institution’s aim was to nurture the students’ growth and development in all facets of life.
Furthermore, she said that students’ attendance at lectures, college chapel programmes and other special events were of top priority; therefore, they were encouraged to attend all lectures promptly and ensure they shun deviant behaviours/vices that could expose them and others to danger. Assignments and projects were to be taken seriously, she said
“My prayers for your parents today is that ‘they shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat; for as the days of a tree are the days of my people and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD and their offspring with them.’ Isaiah 65:22-23.”
Mofunanaya affirmed that the mission of RECTEM was to “be a trailblazer in raising champions, who will be first-class professionals in the field of science, technology and management for middle-level technological needs of the nation.
In an emotion-laden voice, she gave credence to the visioner and one of the founding fathers in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, which has come to fruition in raising champions in knowledge, skill acquisition and morality for the present generation.
The college, she noted, has continued to focus on its God-given mandates of excellence in teaching, research and service to the society, as enshrined in the school’s vision and mission statement.
